Any person who wishes to resign shall submit his/her resignation addressed to the Superintendent in writing.

The request to resign shall be submitted at least two (2) weeks in advance of its effective date.

The resignation shall be submitted to the School Board at its next regular or special meeting.

If the Superintendent determines that misconduct by an instructional staff member who holds an educator certificate affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student and the misconduct warrants termination, the staff member may resign or be terminated and the Superintendent must report the misconduct to the Department in the format prescribed by the Department. Additionally, Policy 8141 sets forth the procedures for mandatory reporting of alleged misconduct by instructional staff members to the Florida Department of Education.

Any resignation for an ensuing year will be accepted without question if submitted prior to April 1st of the current school year.

A member of the instructional staff shall be in violation of the terms of his/her individual employment contract by leaving his/her position prior to release by the Board.

The Board hereby delegates to the superintendent the authority to accept or reject resignations on the Board's behalf. All resignations shall be irrevocable by the resignee once tendered unless the superintendent otherwise consents in writing. The resignation shall be submitted to the Board at a regular or special meeting.
