Administrative Guidelines
 

5136 - STUDENT USE OF CELL PHONES

The following guidelines apply to students in middle and high schools:

 

A.

Students may use cell phones in the classroom when directed by the teacher.

 
 

B.

Any other use of cell phones or electronic devices during school hours is restricted to the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch.

 
 

C.

Students may not use cell phones in the hallways during passing or any other time besides the cafeteria without administrative approval.

 
 

D.

Schools may institute measures for students to earn the privilege of extended cell phone use by demonstrating responsible use as evidenced by a decrease of:

 
 

1.

Cell phone violations

 
 

2.

Theft of cell phones

 
 

3.

Incidents initiated by cell phones such as social media posts, etc.
