2450 - ADULT EDUCATION AND EXTENDED SERVICES

Definitions

 

A.

Adult Education

 
 

The School City of Hammond Adult Education Program and Extended Services has united into a partnership with the Department of Workforce transforming two (2) compartmentalized systems into a team-style, integrated delivery structure with an emphasis on exceptional customer service. The two (2) programs aspire to create a workforce in Northwest Indiana that is highly skilled, motivated and diverse, earning sustainable or higher wages and activity engaged in skill advancement and life-long learning.

 
 

B.

Supervision

 
 

The program shall be administered and supervised by the Northwest Indiana Consortium. The consortium, is comprised of adult educators, workforce development professionals, post secondary institutions and area businesses. The local programs shall be supervised by a school director who reports to the local school Superintendent or designee. The Director shall be responsible for recommending a budget, courses offered, school utilized and employed staff.

 
 

C.

Eligibility

 
 

Enrollment is open to individual seventeen (17) years or older who is currently not enrolled in a traditional school and has not completed the requirements for a high school diploma.

   
 

D.

Tuition

 
   

There is no tuition charge for any participant.
